What are microstroke brows?
Also called: feather brows, 3D brows, and microblading -it's the process of implanting color pigment
beneath the surface of the skin by means of tiny, sterile, disposable needles to produce the appearance
of hairs to enhance the natural features of the brow, while adding more dimension, and color.
What is natural machine shading?
A combination of microstroked and light machine shading create a well-blended, realistic brow. Its a great addition & offers a bit more coverage and universally heals very well.
What happens if I'm late to my appointment?
I allow a 10 minute window for ALL appointments. That means upstairs, on the table no later than 10 minutes past your appointment time. This is non-negotiable. I book out a specific amount of time per person to ensure I have the time to complete your service in the way it was intended - with my full focus, no rushing, and the ability to discuss every detail. If you are late and I cannot take you I will rebook you for the next soonest appointment (keep in mind it could be up to 4 months out). I value your time as much as my own so this rule is in place to keep the day running smoothly for everyone! :)
How long does it last?
For all clients, two sessions are required to have a dimensional finished brow, which is why I offer include the follow up. Sometimes a third appointment is needed, which we will talk about at your appointment. The first appointment is all about finding the perfect shape and applying the first layer of pigment to start adding texture and depth. Everyone heals and retains pigment differently and once healed you will return in 6-12 weeks for an additional follow up appointment. In this appointment, I layer in more strokes to achieve more realistic dimension. After your initial touch up is completed, color maintenance is recommended every 12-14 months, but again, depends on the person. I charge $300 for a color maintenance appointment if you are already a client. After 2 years it is full price.
How is microblading different than a regular tattoo?
Microstroking is a manual form of cosmetic tattooing, Rather than a tattoo machine, microstroke brows are performed with a hand tool made up of several small needles. The purpose of cosmetic tattooing is to enhance the natural features of a client - I LOVE a natural look for brows and that's exactly what I want to enhance.
Am I a candidate for this procedure?
Most people are! If you have any questions at all or if you are unsure if you are a good candidate for cosmetic tattooing
please contact me prior to booking. Here are some reasons we can't tattoo you: if you are pregnant, or have any medical conditions such as diabetes, or ongoing viral infections. If you have recently gone through chemotherapy please contact me, we can totally tattoo you but we need to contact your physician and obtain a medical release before your appointment. I cannot tattoo over moles (we go around!), severe eczema, or open abrasions in the brow area,
You must be off accutane for at least 6-12 months, and off all retinols for about a month. Remember, you must be 18 years old with a photo ID. If you come in for your appointment and I am unable to tattoo you for any reason, your appointment will be cancelled and your deposit may be forfeited.
Do microstroke eyebrows hurt?
Pain tolerance varies from person to person, I do use a topical anesthetic to minimize pain. Most clients
mentioned it felt like when you tweeze your eyebrows. They experience little to no discomfort and feel
relaxed. Some tenderness comes after the topical anesthetic wears off after the procedure. You may feel sore and slightly swollen for a short time after.
How long do microstroked eyebrows take?
First time appointments are booked for 75 minutes and follow up sessions are booked for 45 minutes. Yearly refreshes usually take about 60 minutes. I'm a pretty fast tattooer so its doesn't take forever!
How do you decide brow shape & color?
When you come in for your appointment, I will analyze your skin type, coloration, hair pattern, face shape, and bone structure. With my professional opinion and your input, we will design a natural eyebrow that compliments your face. I match the color very closely with your existing brow hair. The only hair that will be removed it what falls out of your brow shape. Just like going to get a brow wax. I make hyper realistic brows and we work together on figuring to what is the best natural look for your face. It's so fun!
How should I prepare for my BROW appointment?
There's a few things to keep in mind before your procedure because they can cause excessive bleeding, lack of pigment retention, or make your skin too sensitive to get tattooed.
Do not work out the day of the procedure, not before, not after!
Please refrain from taking Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Ibuprofen 24 hours before procedure.
No alcohol or caffeine either! No waxing at least 3 days before the procedure - I will happily clean your brows up for you the day of your appointment.
No Botox/fillers/laser treatments within 2 weeks prior to appointment.
No tinting your eyebrows at least 5 days before appointment. If you fill your brows in daily, come in with them filled so I can see!
Also, if you have a favorite eyebrow pencil or powder please bring it!
Most importantly, come to your appointment well hydrated and having already eaten, it will help you feel much more relaxed throughout the process.
How soon until I can go out in public? Will I look weird?!
A VERY frequently asked question. No you won't look weird, and yes, you can go back to work. YES your brows do look darker during the healing process and YES they do get flaky and shed but that isn't for a few days. YES you might be a bit swollen and red but it's nothing crazy. All of my before and after photos are taken immediately after procedure and unedited. You do occasionally see some redness and swelling but generally you are good to go.
How should I care for my BROWS after my procedure?
Brows usually take 10-14 days to heal - yes it's a little long but I promise it's worth it!
I'll explain healing during your appointment but here are a few key things to remember.
● Keep your brows clean and dry.
● NO cleansers, creams, makeup or any other products on treated area for 10 days.
● 4-5 hours after the procedure blot area clean with cool water and a paper towel - let air dry.
● Apply a SMALL AMOUNT of my healing oil, grapeseed or jojoba oil 1 time a day. NOTHING ELSE!
● DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off - picking can cause the strokes to become blurry, scarring, and poor healing. Take care of those pretty brows!!
● Avoid tanning for 3-4 weeks after procedure.
● Avoid heavy sweating for the first 1-2 days.
● NO facials, chemical treatments and micro-dermabrasion for at least 4 weeks.
● Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days. TRY to sleep on your back if you can!
What can I expect during the BROW healing process?
Here is an approximate Healing Schedule for Microstroke Eyebrows:
1-7 days: your brows are 20-40% darker and more bold than your healed result. They will look BOLD! They will look DARK! You might feel overwhelmed. Don't worry, they will chill out soon! Remember the brows you see that first week will not be what they look like when they are healed. They will be MUCH softer, lighter and even appear smaller.
TRUST THE PROCESS.
Your eyebrows also may begin to itch and pigment will seem somewhat raised. Do NOT pick.
7-10 days: your skin will shed naturally and evenly if left alone. It will look like the pigment is coming off with the shedding, its not!
10-14 days: most shedding should be complete and skin should be healed. They may seem super light - this is okay! Once the last of the skin sheds your true color will come though. Remember this is a process, be patient :)
4-6 weeks: your brows are now part of your dermis, seen under the epidermis. This is your true brow color. Come in for your follow up so we can add more dimension, color, and anything else you might need or want!!
The follow up is SO IMPORTANT! We will talk more about this at your appointment.
Trust the process :) Remember: eyebrows will appear darker and bolder due to natural scabbing and healing for the first 10 days. This is very common for all permanent cosmetic procedures.
What is lip blushing?
Lip blush is most natural technique in lip tattooing. This method is very soft - no harsh outlines ever, just a subtle shade of color that gives you a fresh plump look while allowing the natural lip shape to shine. I do not go outside of your natural lip line. Together, we choose a color that is right for you, which is mixed especially for each client based on skin color, undertones & current lip color. This service can help with minor asymmetry of the lips, or if you have a pale/washed out natural lip color. Pain level is around a level 3-4, as I use two topical 2 anesthetics.
What to expect with lip blushing?
Healing time is quick and easy! Just a few days of applying aquaphor or any other moisturizing lip. balm. No submerging your lips in water. YES, your lips will be swollen for a few hours right after the procedure but it goes down quickly! After that, they’ll just be a bit plump for 2 hours. Some people do swell more than others but again, it goes down quickly. The most important thing to remember is that the color is VERY vibrant for the first 2-3 days (just like brows, but shorter duration!) then it really begins to settle in, it softens into a lovely naturally over color. Did I mention it looks VERY bright and vibrant for the first few days? Keep that in mind! And trust the process :)
How long does lip blush last?
As with all procedures, it depends on the person and how they heal but I can confidently say that lip blush usually lasts 2 years (though it will have started to fade). Similar to brows I suggest getting a refresh to brighten the color once a year after your initial appointment.
How should I prepare for my LIP appointment?
There's a few things to keep in mind before your procedure because they can cause excessive bleeding, lack of pigment retention, or make your skin too sensitive to get tattooed.
Starting two weeks prior, start using a lip moisturizer of your choice to ensure your lips are not chapped for your appointment! This will really help with color retention.
If you’ve ever had a coldsore on the outside of your mouth or on your lips you MUST take Valtrex at least 5 days prior, and 5 days after getting your lips tattooed. The reason? The procedure (or an direct trauma) could trigger an outbreak that will affect healing- so this is very important & very easy to avoid! :)
Do not work out the day of the procedure, not before, not after.
Please refrain from taking Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Ibuprofen 24 hours before procedure.
No alcohol or caffeine either!
No Botox/fillers within 2 weeks prior to appointment.
Most importantly, come to your appointment well hydrated and having already eaten, it will help you feel much more relaxed throughout the process.
How should I care for my LIPS after my procedure?
Aftercare for lips is easy and they heal much quicker than brows - YAY!
I'll explain aftercare during your appointment but here are a few key things to remember.
● Keep your lips clean and dry other than a moisturizing balm.
● For the night of the procedure don't brush your teeth, I know I know but you will be sore and its best to just leave it for one night
● Drink through a straw and avoid excessively spicy, salty, or hot (temp) foods for 1-3 days
● No kissing for 1-3 days (sorrrrryy!!!!) Just to ensure good healing.
● NO cleansers, creams, makeup or any other products on treated area for 5 days.
● 4-5 hours after the procedure blot area clean with cool water and a paper towel - let air dry and then start using the healing cream I supply for you. The cream is calendula based, vegan, and great for all skin types.
● Hydrate! All day, everyday. Never let your lips get dry. We will talk more about this at your appointment.
● DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off - picking can cause the pigment to not hold! Take care of your new pretty lips!
● Avoid tanning for 3-4 weeks after procedure.
● Avoid heavy sweating for the first 1-2 days.
● NO facials, chemical treatments and micro-dermabrasion for at least 3 weeks.
Is the studio & equipment safe?
Yes! I only use single use, disposable needles and supplies. This means that EVERYTHING for each
new client is discarded safely afterwards. I thoroughly clean and make sure my work area is disinfected before opening and after each appointment throughout the day.
Can you touch up brows that another artist started?
Yes of course! But any client who is new to me will be charged full price. With that full price you receive a free follow up in 1-3 months.
Do you offer correction of previous tattoos?
YES! But, corrections are taken on a case-by-case basis. Please feel free to get in touch or email photos if you are unsure. I need to ensure they are faded enough to get the results we are both wanting!
